MnemeTherapy
(Pronouced "nemmah")
MnemeTherapy (therapeutic painting) uses everyday pleasures such as singing, movement, directed painting, and storytelling in a unique combination to stimulate dramatic changes in the brain (a.k.a. neuroplasticity).

The goal is to provide a rewarding experience. However, documented testimonies show significant improvement in most clients' verbal skills, mobility, combativeness, spatial acuity, understanding instructions plus much more!

The therapy sessions are done one-to-one with the therapist and client.

"James really enjoys therapy with Tina. To him, it’s a fun time painting. But it’s also helping him by working on so many things that he needs – maintaining focus, fine motor skills, crossing the midline, calming, social skills, completing work in a timely manner, following directions- I could go on and on. And the whole process only takes 30 minutes! In the end, with the help of Tina’s guidance, positive motivation, and endless patience, he produces a beautiful painting that makes him feel very proud. It really builds his self-esteem which makes him want to share his work with others. And the response he receives from friends and family is wonderful. They all want his artwork for their walls! James is so excited he even has our whole family painting now. We all sit down once a week and have “family paint time”. James really looks forward to Tina’s weekly visits and we can see the changes it has made in him in a short amount of time. Our family highly recommends this program for anyone who is considering it. Tina is the best!"

"Prior to painting, they sing the same song each week while swaying their hands that are held left and right to the music. Many
hand eye exercises crossing mid-line are performed in a very fun way to "wake up" her left/right brain communication and motor planning /coordination. Then Tina has Paige look through a book and make a choice of what she would like to paint (whew that is rough for someone with a processing disorder) Tina strategically places the paint so that Paige has to track lines, use her imagination and has to use spacial awareness and directional terms. Paige does the majority of the creation, but in therapy it is ALL ABOUT THE PROCESS, and it's just a bonus when the end product is amazingly beautiful. She is so happy when she paints."
